Court..... Visit..... and Heels

Today was court, what an eye opening experience on the floor we were on was the Social Services court room as well as the child support court room. People from all walks.... and some that prolly shoulda kept on walking (No, I'm not trying to be mean.... really!) I do love to people watch, but today I had to quit watching the people and just watch the shoes.... (way better!!) some of them were way cute, some were borning.... and some border on the fantastic! All shapes and sizes and the colors, wow!! The cutest shoes had to be a pair of tan stilettos, with a double strap with flowers. The most outrageous were a pair of...... kind army boots, but not really.... black mid calf laced real loose with lots of straps and buckles... (a guy had them on) with his slacks tucked in the tops.... ;o) (nope not kidding!!) If I were braver or sneaker I'd have taken pictures. But I didn't wanna get caught, (like I did at Wal-mart one time.... not pretty, not pretty at all.)  All of that aside... Our Little Guy will be with us for at least 2 more weeks.(yeah!!!) And the visit.... well it went, and I guess went ok, but we are having a huge case of the "visit fidgetts"! So all in all, everything right and good in the Crazy Household.

Visit Day

 Today we have another visit, which means I have to dress... (catty, I know, but I can't help it) and by dress I don't mean to the nines or anything just be put together in a grown up way. But since today's visit is in a park.... no heels, (boooo hoooo) So i'm thinking my fall uniform, (which reminds me I need to text my neighbor and see if I can wear her boots again!) Skinnys, a tank and a cardigan or a blazer. And those knee high flat boots, just set it all off!! Cute!!  Now onto hair..... Thank god for Kate.... she has amazing post up for  Not Just a ponytail that is super easy and very very cute! I'm sure y'all are getting tired of hearing about Kate..... but she really is amazing.

1st ever Birchbox!

Woot Woot, I got my very first BirchBox today, (should have checked the mail on Sat.) and I have to admit my first thought was..... "It's not very big, is it?!" But that aside.... when I opened it... it was packed full of stuff. Very cool stuff....and a cute little bag to keep it all in. Love, love, love the lip balm, silky going on and smells pretty good. Was very pleasantly surprised by the perfume.... very, very nice and not over the top! The eyeshadow is amazing! I haven't tried the hair tie, but I'm sure I'll get around to it. I've never tried dry shampoo before.... but we'll see. Maybe. So all in all, I'm gonna have to rate it a keeper... just because I was pleasantly surprised.

PJ day

Today is PJ Day!! The one day I don't bother with getting dressed, no hair (well, a messy ponytail, but that doesn't count)  NO makeup, no contacts..... no nothing. I love PJ day! We even skipped mass this morning (yes, I know.... shame, shame shame) We don't have an absolutely do nothing day very often, so when I feel we've all had enough... That's when I declare a PJ Day! So after a weeks of school.... therapy.... work.... and all that goes on, everybody need that one day.... of nothingness. A day to not get dressed.... watch mindless tv..... play with cars and play-do, or just read!!

I am so using Pinterest to get dressed today. I have to clean house, do the laundry, (early release day tomorrow.) and I get to have a photo shoot with my Favorite Baby! I've been waiting to do his pictures for a bit, he's 2 months old, so it hasn't been foorr eevveerr, but still. Hair

For the last 15 or so years I've had pretty short hair, it's pin straight and baby fine. I've never been real handy with a curling iron, or a blow dryer for that matter. I had Mom, hair. Wash and wear.... chase kid... drive kid..... you know the drill, (or will one day). So now I'm growing out my hair, and have learned different things to do with it, mostly thanks to Kate over at The Small Things Blog. Yes she is a hairdresser, Umm, beauty consultant,( I don't know what to call her, except if she lived in Texas, I'd do anything to have her do my hair.) The really cool thing about Kate is, that she does her own hair.... in a mirror, with her camera going! It's easy to do someone elses hair, (for most people) but to do your own, and tell what you're doing in words I understand!! Amazing. So now I'm getting braver and braver. So today is not what I wore (lime green sleeveless shirt, boot cut jeans and ropers)  but how did I  my hair.....




                                                      

It's Today

It is today... Today is shaping up to be a great day!! The ARD meeting when amazingly well, (you can read all about it on Our Little Guys, page.). Looks like my new shoes are gonna be delivered today! What's not to love about new shoes that come in the mail right to your door.... I just love Shoe Dazzle. Not to mention it was buy one get one, Score!

The most important thing about today is..... it's Mr. Crazy's birthday!  So Happy Happy Birthday to my best friend, my rock, my partner in good times and bad, I love you more today than I did yesterday.

Evolution

 I had a just peachy morning this morning. I got up got Our Little Guy up, all was going well, on time for once, if not a few minutes early, (never happens..... Never!) We get shoes on.... stroll out to the car, climb in,  buckle up..... turn the key...... click, click,click. Then nothing, I get back out hook up the battery charger dealy, can't find the jump engine  button. Have to call Mr Crazy, I hate having to call him for stuff I know I know how to do. But he tells me which button to hit. So then comes the waiting..... I get Our Little Guy back outta the car, (so much for being on time) Go back in the house to wait. Finally the car starts and it's hit the road Jack, off we go. I get Our Little Guy to school just a touch late, but nothing that he'll notice. (hehehe, yep, right!) Decided I'm prolly not going to the gym, (the whole car thing) Did take the long way home, Stopped to help somebody with a flat tire, got her going and let her follow me ( to all those who know me.... I can hear you laughing) to where it was she was going!! (yes, good karma will come) Came home to get dressed, visit today..... So evolution of an outfit...... started with my fav Orange, wound up my with my new fav gray.... with my Orange heels, for a pop. What'd y'all think?

Really....

We went shopping yesterday... at the outlet mall! I love the outlet malls, so many stores, never enough time. This time however we had in tow Our Little Guy, and it's been years, and years since we've had a Little Guy to shop with. Mr. Crazy said, Honey, you can go in any store you want.... So off like a jack rabbit I go, straight to Ann Taylor, one of my fav shops!! Nothing.... and I do mean nothing floated my boat. And yes, I did try on a few things... blech. Not good. So outta there I go, and off to The Loft, when, yep, you guess it, my phone rang. The boys are hungry, boohoo, I say can we stop at The Loft, on the way out (ever hopeful) I get much eye rolling and long suffering sighs, needless to say no Loft for me. But the Little Guy scored, new kicks.... which still light up but fit much better, a few more outfits from my favorite kid store O'sh Kosh. Then on the way out we detoured to the Disney store for a Halloween costume. Our Little Guy will be treating as Capt Hook!! It's soooo cute.  And we pre-ordered Brave!! So all in all a fun day was had by all!

Confidence

I can't say I've ever been the most confidant woman in the world, mostly I bluff my way through. However, I was talking to a very nice lady at the gym yesterday about high heels.... I love them, really really love them. But since moving to central Texas, I have found myself not wearing them very often, I don't see women here wearing heels like they did in Louisiana. Well, the really nice lady, said to me.... Are you dressing for everybody else... or are you dressing for you?" (light dawns) Of course I said, No, I was dressing for me. But she did make me think about it.... I love my heels so today getting dressed, I based my outfit on my shoes... Gotta love...love...love leopard print heels. Not to mention they make me feel sassy!! Which in turn gives me more confidence. Funny how that works out.

Slacking...

Ok, ok, I know I've been slacking. But have been at the gym for what seems like alllllll day, every day.( go me!! hahahaha) But not really mostly just 2 classes, one at 8:15 and one at like 9:45, so it pretty well eats the morning. But since round is NOT a shape I want to be...  The Gym it is.

I've also been sewing.... wooohooo, I'm making a tote bag, purse I guess. I thought it was going to be a lot bigger that it's gonna be. That's what happens what you just look at the pretty pictures, and not the real measurements. But it's good practice, and I'll post some pictures when it's done.  So I guess that's all I got on the general home front

Other Daughter, I swear I'm gonna get more recipes up on the food page, just for you..... maybe tomorrow....

Getting Dressed

I just have one very small question.... How on earth did I ever get dressed in the mornings without my computer, or Sheaffer over at Pinterest Told Me To, who puts herself together with the help of pinterest. I didn't know how or what to do with my hair until I Stumbled on to Kate over at The Small Things Blog. It's amazing.... I kinda remember..... jeans and a tee.....or try to come up with somethin' cute, take a picture send it one of the girls. Who would promptly say... Mmmooomm. So today I get up, get Our Little Guy off to school, spend a couple hours at the gym.... (and boy am I paying for it now, but I do have tons more energy, hahahaha,) come home and say to myself...."Self, lets see what Sheaffer has to say about what I'm gonna wear today." Sheaffer spent the day shopping, (lucky girl!) so off to Pinterest I go.... Ummmm, so Here I am dressed, and looking pretty good.... Rambling Saturday

Rambling Saturday ,we all spent the morning in town, we wandered the little farmers market. Full of some pretty cool stuff, but nearing the end of the season. So also pretty small. Then walked around downtown, I love that they have decorated for fall but putting out bales of hay with fall leaves and ribbon on them. It's pretty and cheerful. We went into a couple of different stores one an antiquey,(that I want to go back to .... without my men) and the other a home decor store, tons of fun and really good prices. Also gave me so more ideas on the crafting front, (I can make that...) I also found a store that carries my purse!! Yippee, I just love Miche Bags. But I need some more covers, I'm prolly gonna have to break down and see if I can make some.... hmmm..... now theres a thought.  I love rambling Saturdays....


                                                                      

Lost Time,

I have a million and one thing to do today, it is Friday and that is the clean house, do laundry day as I have previously posted. But I sat down to check out a couple of things on the blogs I follow, then Pinerest caught me..... I have a love, hate relationship with Pinterest, I love the ideas and such and hate that I can lose hours jumping from pin to pin. It's a lot like Stumble in that respect, I love stumble.... I can Stumble for hours, and I get so many ideas, (and pins), from Stumbling, grrrr. Why are there only 24 hours in a day.....

Early Morning Phone Calls

I am now learning to dread the early morning phone calls from my grown children.... I know if my phone rings at say.... 8:00 am, early for them, They are calling me to tell me something horrible..... The Bug's new car was broken into, and her boyfriends truck stolen outright. 8:00 am phone call. The Biddy Girl, kind of had a new job, that wound up being a scam job, (she got her old job back, whew!!) also a 8:00 am phone call. With tears and much stress. On the upside.... They love me enough to want to share.... and they know I love them enough to listen and not freak out,( to much), to try to help them figure out what to do.... or just let them rant and rave. But I do cringe when my phone rings in the mornings and it's one of the kids. Bless their little hearts!!

It's Wednesday

Ok, so it's Wednesday. On a normal Wednesday it goes.... Get up get Our Little Guy, up, dressed, fed, and off to school we go. Then Dr's office, and done for the day. Today is court.... and while in TX they don't want kids in court ( doesn't really hurt my feelings) I have to wait for Ms. M to call and tell me what they've decided ( I am NOT the worlds most patient woman.)  I hate to wait, and on a court day it's nothing but waiting. So today I'm trying to keep my brain busy, I spent the morning taking pictures at both of the small towns that are close. If you interested you can check them out on the photography page. Now I think I'm gonna go play in the front flower beds.... All the while sitting on my phone, waiting (willing) it to ring with good news.


UPDATE:   The phone rang.... with...... No news but of another court date. So I guess in this case, NO news is really good news.

Navy and Orange

Who told me Navy blue and Orange don't go together?? Well I'm here to tell you they do..... and I love this look. For about a year I've been trying to be a girl.... a real girl, not a tomboy girl. To me, that means makeup and hair, (the small things blog)..... jewelry, clothes, (pinterest told me to)  and shoes, (I found out I love shoes.... shoedazzle.com) So now that we've come to Texas and it's a bit cooler than Southern Louisiana, I've had to shop my closet  more. So today I was feeling a bit blah.... it's cloudy and cool.....hence the blah feeling. So to perk up I wanted a bright color.... and I love Orange it's happy, it's cheerful, it's, it's wonderful. And it goes with just about everything....... including navy blue.




                                                                  

Parent Teacher Conferences....

Parent, Teacher conferences.... strikes fear in the hearts of all parents. Is my child good, do they follow directions, are they polite.... any number of these and other questions run through most everybody's mind. It can be madding..... and normally what you hear are all good things.  For a foster parent, parent teacher conferences are just as nerve racking as they are revealing, for both the teacher and the parent. The teachers spend quite a bit of time, (almost as much as the parents) with the kids so they can offer insights to said child's behaviors, and sometimes motivations. Having good communication with the teachers is so important! And be involved with your child's education.... It will pay huge dividends later. So here is my shout out to all the Teachers out there!!!      

Chilli and Cinnamon Rolls

It's a quite lazy slow Sunday afternoon, mostly because both my men are napping... So I thought I'd take advantage of that and indulge in one of my other loves, baking . As it is also quite chilly today, I thought that called for Chilli.... yum yum..... but not the chilli of my childhood,( Skyline Chili, chili with spaghetti)  good old fashioned Chili with beef and beans not quite hot enough to melt your face, it's not that cold yet, but with a nice warmth to warm up your insides. The cinnamon rolls come from Mr. Crazy's side of the family... after all who ever heard of cinnamon rolls with chili?? Well before rolling your eyes and chuckling... try it, it really is good and goes together quite well. I'd have never thought it up.... but then again I had never heard of eating chili without spaghetti. 

It's Friday!!

Woo Hoo, it's Friday. The day of housecleaning and getting the laundry done..... the housecleaning so it's clean for the weekend when Mr. Crazy is home, so we can run around all weekend and I don't have to worry about the house. The big plus for Fridays..... it's the one night a week I don't cook!! Don't get me wrong, I like to cook... I don't even mind the clean up..... It's the deciding what to make.... and what to go with whatever I've decided to make. There are a few no brainer meals... Pork Chops, Mac and Cheese, green beans. Fried Chicken (yes, I know.... but it's chicken!!) mashed potatoes, gravy, corn.  So there are some meals I really don't have to think about. But I'm tired of making the same things. So trying to be creative, and healthy. So by Friday.... I've about cooked my brains out. I love Fridays.... So to all Happy Friday! 

Kind of Random

OK, so today is going to be one of those days that are Random... I got in my car and the little info bar said, check right front tire pressure, hit the info button.... and I get Left tire 35 psi and Right tire 29 psi. No big deal, I take Our Little Guy to school, come home to take care of the whole tire pressure deal..... get my tire pressure checker thingy.... turn on the air compressor.....  fill the tire, to 35 psi, jump back in the car turn it on.... and (gerrrrrr) the same warning pops up..... get out of the car..... re-check, yep, still says 35 psi on my handy dandy tire checker thingy, get back in the car turn it on..... bam.... same warning. But I know it's wrong! So the whole random thought was\is do Dads still teach there kids to work on cars? I remember my Dad teaching me to change the tires, change the oil, change the spark plugs and wires ( which most cars don't even have anymore) I guess he taught me how to do the general maintenance on my car. But with car becoming more and more computerized.... do you take it somewhere, or do you fix it yourselves? (oil changes and such?)

New Color

Nothing like a new hair color to perk a girl up, and I've tried a few.... even went blonde once, (shudder). Trust in the fact that'll never happen again!! My natural color is a pretty run of the mill dark brown with some red tones, and gray!! I see tons of gray, but in all reality I'm just starting to go. It is the pretty silver gray... but gray nonetheless, I 'm not ready to be gray.... hence the color. This time I picked a dark burgundy brown! I think I like it.... and I still have to pass the Mr. Crazy, so we'll see what he has to say. But it really does perk a girl up!

The Weekend

We had a very productive weekend, with a nice visit with Our Little Guys Mom.... which went pretty well. Bath time is on the up swing... and Adventures in Potty Training are going right along.

On Sun, Mr. Crazy say to me.... Leave... go on.... get out, go spend some alone time..... So tell me what is a woman to do??  I did what any sane red-blooded woman would do, I grabbed my purse and keys and gratefully fled the house. I had no plan.... and the whole of the day before me. well, let me tell you in Central Texas on a Sunday morning.... there is next to nothing open...... at least no until noon. So I wondered around stores I haven't been in, in years.... Big Lots, has some very interesting stuff.... but I noticed they have their Christmas stuff out already!! I am soooo not in the mood to think about Christmas... yet. The Dollar Store also has some interesting stuff..... but I think that can be another store where you have to pay attention, due to some prices being higher that say... Wal-Mart. Who'd of thunk it? Target has the cutest shoes.... but I resisted, no need to make Mr. Crazy crazier..... So all in all it was a good day, I wonder around got some cool ideals for some future projects.
 And the "boys".....you might wonder?  Well, they got to hang out, watch some football, play blocks, and cars!! Which looking back was prolly the whole plan in the first place.
